Martin Mommers
Martin Mommers was born in the Netherlands in 1959. Martin started at an early age experimenting with visual art (education first degree, Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). He is an experienced artist with a demonstrated history of working in the arts and crafts industry. Skilled in Collage, Contemporary Art, Art Education, Painting and Acrylic works.

He draws inspiration from his surroundings. Martin starts each of his works with a rough and abstract focus. He then adds shape and colour and works them together. Creation is a process involving observation, contemplation, selection, order, contribution and harmony. Material is shaped by applying colour after colour and layer after layer. The resulting colour contrasts and violent brushstrokes make his work suggestive and dynamic. Martin uses this same method to portray animals. One could say that this single means of expression is the exploration into form and structure. This research in shape and structure leads to still moods reflecting human-like characteristics on the mirror of Martin's work.
